Over 130 ministers, elected officials and community leaders have now endorsed Will Burns' campaign for State Representative and more support is rolling in daily!!!!
Mayor Richard M. Daley, the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence, the Illinois Million Mom March Chapters and former State Representative Judy Erwin are among the endorsements that Will garnered this week. The Brady Campaign held a press conference Wednesday in the 26th District and among those endorsing Will was Garrett Evans, a Chicagoan and Virginia Tech who was shot during the Virginia Tech massacre. Will supports strong gun-control measures that have been blocked in Springfield, such as banning the sale of guns at gun shows, prohibiting assault weapons and other measures advanced by Mayor Daley and Rep. Harry Osterman, D-Chicago.
"I will not be intimidated or bought off by the National Rifle Association," Burns said, adding that Mayor Daley's endorsement came because of his strong record working on gun legislation in the State Senate. The story about the Brady endorsement was reported by media outlets throughout the country since the Brady campaign is a national group.
Yesterday, the first direct mail pieces for Will's candidacy began hitting mailboxes throughout the 26th District. Our campaign plans an aggressive advertising campaign up and including Election Day, Tuesday, February 5, 2008.
