John F. Kennedy once remarked that victory has a thousand fathers. Our victory in February’s primary election has thousands of fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, and friends.

While pundits may talk about the role of mail pieces, television and radio ads – my campaign depended on volunteers like you. Why? Because our campaign was fought and won house to house and door to door. In short, you delivered the victory.

You delivered by going door-to-door on cold, gray, snowy, Saturday mornings. You delivered by working the phone banks, and introducing me to voters. You delivered by stuffing envelopes, putting up signs, and talking to your friends, neighbors, and relatives. We all did the hard work necessary to win a competitive election.

I would not be the Democratic Party nominee without you. Thank you for your hard work, your commitment, and your belief in me.

We’re not totally out of the woods yet. I have a Republican opponent in the November general election, and I’m not taking anything for granted. I’ll be going out on precinct walks on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, and campaigning at community events throughout the district. In short, I’ll be running a competitive campaign this summer and fall, and I am counting on your continued support for our general election campaign.
